In Backstrap Weaving, one end of the loom is bound to a post or tree while the other is tied around the weaver’s waist. The weaver becomes just as much a part of the loom as the weaving itself. In this introductory backstrap workshop, the student will learn some basic weaving techniques such as interlocking, vertical stripe and rya knot. Each student will complete a necklace, headpiece, strap, or belt.
Students who want to continue practicing weaving after taking this class, are welcome to purchase a loom for $26.00.
