Started in 2008 with just a handful of classes and basic tools, Makeville Studio has grown into a thriving community wood shop and NYC’s top venue to learn woodworking. We are a community of craftspeople, artists, and educators with diverse backgrounds and skill levels who share a common culture of knowledge sharing, craftsmanship, shop etiquette and safety.

Of course we love making, design and craft, but teaching is our real passion. Makeville Studio exists because we believe everyone should experience the deep satisfaction that comes with making something with your own two hands. Given the right tools for the job and the knowledge how to use them, you’ll be amazed at what you can create!

At the Craft in Focus event we will demonstrate: turning wood on a lathe, creating free form shapes in wood with steam bending, and various hand tools skills (using planes, saws and chisels) that attendees can try, and we will present a fun wood identification game.
